Case study
800 hires in 10 weeks
How we built an event workforce for the Sydney Ashes Test from scratch.

The challenge
When a major hospitality operator secured the contract for hospitality services at the Sydney Cricket Ground in late 2021, it realised that winning the project was just the start. It now needed to build an event workforce from the outset. And it needed to do it quickly.
The brief was mammoth: source and process 800 hospitality workers for the 2022 Sydney Ashes Test, a five-day event with zero room for delays. To deliver at that scale and speed, the business needed a volume hiring partner that could attract talent quickly, streamline screening and keep candidates moving at pace.
That’s why they picked us.

The solution
We started by building a high-volume hiring solution designed to do two things well: generate interest fast and move candidates efficiently from application to offer.
That began with a dedicated campaign website and landing pages, supported by an integrated marketing plan with social at its core to attract the right people at speed. We also tapped into existing talent pools, reconnecting with known candidates to build momentum even faster.
To keep delivery moving, we deployed Affinix ATS to capture applications and automate the screening journey. Affinix Video screening gave our offshore team the ability to review candidates against a defined worker persona quickly and consistently, taking the guesswork out of high-volume assessment.
Once candidates were success, they were directly moved to offer stage and handed over for SAP process, creating a seamless route from attraction to onboarding.
Results
The campaign delivered at pace.
More than 800 hospitality workers were placed within just 10 weeks, giving the business the workforce it needed to deliver the Sydney Ashes Test successfully.
By combining targeted attraction, automated screening and scaled delivery, we turned a blank-sheet hiring challenge into a fully staffed event workforce.
